Appointment 6 & 7

It’s been a minute since I posted about our TIP travels. So, this will be two in one for Visit 6 & 7. Both appointments went well which is a theme I’m really loving- and hoping to continue- with our travels.

Flying

Travel Essentials: Epis, iPad and Snacks!

Travel has really been picking up and flights are completely packed! Masks are still a must and I am still wiping down seats, tray tables, etc. as I did before the pandemic. Car rental lines are a nightmare, though. If you have any status to get you to bypass lines then I suggest you use it.

Appointments

We melt our gummies and add juice to it since Musa hates the taste of them.

At visit 6, Musa challenged and passed brazil nut, duck egg white and barley. We also did a skin prick test to assess for SLIT. And the great news is that Musa does not need SLIT! I definitely think that the food treatment has been helping Musa through his environmental allergens. Lastly, we introduced new foods for a 10 week dosing cycle.

At visit 7, Musa challenged and passed clarified butter, cashew and sesame. Clarified butter was SO tough to get through. Our provider saw Musa struggle through the challenge because he just hates the taste of it that much. We mixed it into ice cream for dosing and the challenge. We still ended up with 10ml as our maintenance and were completely failing at it because Musa hated it that much. It got so bad that he stopped eating all his maintenance that he had been working so hard on getting down for the last year and half. I had to contact the providers and work them to find something that Musa liked which was nearly impossible. In the end, it was escalated to Dr. R and he looked over Musa’s files and said we could move to 5ml daily which really helped with motivating Musa. We were back on track but the amount of maintenance was still about 15 foods.

Bloodwork resulted in many tears but it’s done!

At this visit, we also introduced pecan and hen egg white. It’s crazy to think we are on the last part of our egg journey. I am very excited to see what happens at the next visit. I am hoping I am done separating yolks and whites.

We also had labs completed at this visit and heard back 7 weeks later with some changes to maintenance. Most of our foods went to once or three times a week with mare milk, duck egg white, hen egg yolk and barley staying at daily. It is so much more manageable for us to get maintenance done under an hour now whereas before it was a 3 to 4 hour ordeal!
