Visit 8: an EGG-citing one

What seemed like endless days of sourcing, separating and prepping eggs is now done! Visit 8 was a big appointment for us as Musa cleared egg. He not only successfully cleared egg but his bloodwork showed great improvement to egg and other allergies.

Clearing Egg

Passing the hen egg white challenge was the last step to clear egg, but we still have to maintain one egg each morning. It has to be scrambled so not hard boiled or runny eggs. Apart from that Musa can have as much baked egg as he would like without worrying about it being 4 hours apart from dosing. This is huge as it opens up so many options with baked goods or foods like bread that he didn’t like so much because without gluten, dairy and eggs things get dense! Now, though, he loves bread and muffins. It’s so wonderful to have new foods options opening up for us already.

Bloodwork Results

We had some more good news with the blood results from last visit’s blood draw. Seven weeks after the blood draw we were emailed changes to maintenance which included many of our nuts falling to once or three times a week. Some mornings are just so much easier without trying to get through 12+ foods! What’s more, Musa is cleared to eat fish and shellfish. The numbers for these foods did not appear on his bloodwork. It is SUCH a relief to know that Musa can enjoy these foods without dosing or challenging them. I truly believe the foods we have dosed have helped with clearing the fish and shellfish allergy. All in all, so much good news in just 1.5 years.

Next Dosing Cycle and Appointment

We have three foods- pecan, almond and goat milk for our next visit. Dosing these foods wasn’t difficult. Musa did develop some tics like constant throat clearing and blinking during this cycle. A humidifier and some starbursts helped ease the symptoms. Otherwise, we let it ride out and things got better on their own. I did email TIP as things got to be concerning but thankfully it wasn’t anything alarming. Definitely always keep TIP in the loop when things like this happen. Challenging these 3 foods went well too and just like that we are at our 10th appointment!
